Once again, sadly I've not seen any of these performances but I intend on checking out at least 3 of them, one of them probably later tonight.

Here are the nominees for the Best Actor Oscar this year:

George Clooney as Michael Clayton in Michael Clayton (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0465538/)

Daniel Day-Lewis as Daniel Plainview in There Will Be Blood (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0469494/)

Johnny Depp as Sweeney Todd in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0408236/)

Tommy Lee Jones as Hank Deerfield in In the Valley of Elah (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0478134/)

Viggo Mortenson as Nikolai in Eastern Promises (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0765443/)

I'm hoping that Viggo picks up the award, since his performances over the past few years have definitely warranted it, and his role in Eastern Promises looks like the most interesting nominated one.

Daniel Day Lewis will crush the competition. Enough said.

Too bad he's only a C-List actor.

I really want to see There Will Be Blood. Maybe I'll do that this weekend.

... that is if I can ever stop watching Kenny vs. Spenny.

Haven't seen any- I like Depp and Vigo more but Depp's movie sounds dumb and DDL probably deserves it more.

Too bad he's only a C-List actor.

*sigh* Leave your film class and walk around asking 100 people for their favorite Daniel Day Lewis movie. Even in Hollywood you'll probably get at least 90 who say "Who is Daniel Day Lewis?" Hell, more of the 100 random people will probably get the proceeding Jim Neidhart joke.

You know I don't normally come in here but I'm pleased I did to see Ormberg's "9 out of 10 Los Angelians don't know who Daniel Day Lewis is" comment.

What is In The Valley of Elah?

A movie starring Charlize Theron and Tommy Lee Jones, which Jones received a Best Actor Oscar nomination for. If that doesn't help, I suggest reading up on it here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/In_the_Valley_of_Elah). Apparently it's a Paul Haggis film, so it should be treated accordingly and ignored.

You do know not everybody who lives in LA (there's about 4 million of them) works in show biz or even cares about show biz, right?

7 out of 10 Los Angeles are in fact Mexican. 2 out of the the remaining 3 are from overseas. Leave one out of 10 being actually American. Just saying.

Nicely done. Credibility gained.

What a fucking hack.

Sounds awful. Black Donnelys had promise though.
