A puzzle game developed by Square Enix, Yosumin! Live delivers some fun quadrilateral action, but not to its full potential.

The game play is fairly simple and straightforward, create squares and rectangles with the four corners being made of the same color yosumin, meeting the quota for each color erased, or number of square sets, etc before time runs out. Of course there’s plenty of special pieces such as wildcards that give a time boost, movable pieces, pieces that shuffle the board and more. Two different modes of play are offered endless and battle. In endless mode you go through fifty stages completing the task for each on before you begin again at stage one, while in battle mode, two players vie to create sets on a shared game board in an attempt to force each other’s time bar to reach zero while maintaining their own. This review will focus largely on endless mode. [Continue...]

Red faction: Guerrilla is a new third person shooter from Volition Inc and is the third installment in the Red Faction series, although personally I haven’t played the others.

The game takes place on a future colonised Mars as you control Alec Mason, a newly arrived miner joining his brother on the planet to begin a new life. You quickly learn however, that all is not quite right with the planet as you witness hostile EDF (Earth Defense Force) troops harassing the population while your brother, who is a member of the guerrilla Red Faction, explains the oppressive regime that the EDF has become. It seems that a scarcity of resources on Earth has led to pressure on the EDF to acquire the resources Earth needs from Mars, whatever the cost. The EDF has responded to this by using the base of operations they held from the last games to help free the planet to become its occupying force and impose a state of forced labor onto the inhabitants.  Alone In The Dark Xbox 360 CoverWritten by Taff on 07-18-08

When witting a tagline for an article you consider what the review contains, and a way to draw in the reader to continue to read, to see your insights into the game and why its worth getting.  However with this game there is only one thing I can say.

Alone In The Dark may be one of the worst games I have ever played.

Contra 4
Contra 4 for the Nintendo DS

The name says it all. It says, “You know all those games that came out after Contra 3: The Alien Wars, those 3D ones? Those suck and don’t count. I’m the real sequel.” And indeed it is, Contra 4 brings the series back to what made it great in the first place, side scrolling, 2D, action shooter goodness. All the guns are back from the near useless flames to the mighty spread shot, and you get to choose from four palette swappable soldiers to arm themselves with them through the six difficult stages.
