Another weekend in the bag and another weekend that ended up being dominated by an animated movie. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs took the top spot. The Informant did well but Love Happens managed to beat out Jennifer’s Body. Granted the budget on Jennifer’s Body is quite low at $16M but the marketing was all over the place. Two “wrong side of the tracks” teenagers are hanging out in the catacombs of an abandoned Mental Hospitol when they happen upon what appears to be a dead girl tied down to a table and wrapped in plastic. I wont spoil much of what happens next but safe to say that decisions are made and things are found out about what initialy appears to be a corpse that leads to the backbone of the film. Dirty Hun is your Week 1 winner after tying Kendergardener with fourteen correct picks but beating him with a tie-breaking guess of 38 total points for the Monday night game between Buffalo & New England. This also gives Hun 500 pantaloonies to gamble to his heart’s content. All in all, it was a very close week one with everyone except for Tucho, who finished in last place this week with eight points, making ten or more correct picks. So this weekend’s resulted in the 2nd #1 of the year for Tyler Perry. But just like last year, the earlier movie made more on its opening weekend. In other news Sorority Row and Whiteout proved that old ideas from horror movies sometimes don’t always work. They performed the same (bad) and both combined made less than 9 on the weekend.
