Week 7 has come to a close and Dirty Hun has picked up his third weekly win of the year.  His eleven correct picks was good enough to tie him for first place with PeteMoss and robelgordo while his guess of 36 total points for the Monday Night game broke the tie and gave him the win.  Despite missing out on the weekly win, PeteMoss has moved into a tie for first place in the overall standings with YRD and Don Majkowski at 73 points. Last week saw my biggest gain yet, as I managed to cut the lead down on Nateeasy to just 4734 points. Considering he started almost 10k points ahead of me, and then I had to take a break so he got 9k ahead of me again, I think that was pretty damn impressive.

With 10 weeks left in the challenge, it’s going to be interesting to see what happens. Let’s see how I did this week:

One of the best features in the current generation of consoles is the improvements to online gaming. It wasn’t until the PS2 or Xbox that we really saw online gaming for consoles, and even then it was severely lacking. Both the Xbox 360 and the PS3 offer online gaming with some incredible advances in it with buddy lists, parties, the ability to see what others are playing, private chats, group chats and a variety of other things.

I’m a big fan of online co-op games, although unfortunately the selection for this is still rather sparse all things considered. I’ve played a lot of co-op games for the 360, and wanted to write about some of the best and worst. [Continue...]

Week 6 has ended with ties at the top and bottom of both the weekly and overall leaderboards.  First place for the week saw Osiris, Don Majkowski, Tucho, Shaft & Scotsman all tying with ten correct picks each with Osiris pulling out the victory by guessing a 55 point total score for the Monday night game that finished with 57 total points and submitting his picks three days before Don Majkowski who also took 55 points as his tiebreaker.  Despite not taking the weekly win, Don has moved back into a tie for first overall with YRD at 65 points three ahead of PeteMoss and Shaft who are tied for third.

As for the bottom of the leaderboard, rough weeks for HRH and faarcyde both of whom made just five correct picks each.  faarcyde was at a disadvantage going in having managed to miss making picks in three games this week.  Overall, this drops faarcyde into a tie for last place overall with tron who had another strong week with 9 correct picks.

WEEK 6 FUN FACTS

Four unanimous choices this week but only two of them were correct.  On the positive side, everyone picked both Pittsburgh’s win over Cleveland and Green Bay’s victory over Detroit while no one picked Buffalo to beat the Jets or Oakland to beat Philly.  Jacksonville over St. Louis was picked by everyone who submitted picks for that game but it was one of faarcyde’s three missed games.  The least correctly picked game was Cincinnati/Houston, with only buckdiddy, Osiris, Scotsman and Dirty Hun picking the Texans.
