Written by ScotsmanWelcome to week 10 of the achievement challenge, and boy do I have some great updates for you. This week I managed to add not one but THREE games to the 1000 club, and did well overall with pretty much everything. Yes, this week was a good week. It feels good to be a gangsta. First 1000 game was Cars: Mater National, the 2nd in the Cars trilogy games. This one was a bitch - it had this monster truck level I don't even want to describe. But I will. You drove these monster trucks which had just the worst handling ever. Like, they were impossible to drive. And you had to drive through all these waypoints which were all over the map. At night. Driving through sand. It was hell, and I earned every freaking achievement. I got the final 6 achievements needed in this game, for 1000/1000. The next 1000 game was Bourne Conspiracy. I beat this awhile back but still needed a TON of achievements. Actually according to my stats, I got it exactly 51 weeks ago. Kinda freaky. Anyway I got the last 19 achievements in this for a full 1000 gamerscore. Got a few more achievements in Fifa 08 for beating all the leagues, and scoring two own goals on myself. 18 of 49 achievements in that, but I had to return it to the library. I may get this again as there's a few more achievements I can get in this bad boy. All Pro Football 2K8 was the final 1000 game this week, as I got achievements for 3 & 5 online wins in a row, and 10, 20 and 50 online games won. Great week, how do we match up? Last Week: Scotsman: 54.43% Risto: 67.13% This Week: Scotsman: 55.26% Risto: 67.54% I did a chart showing the difference between our percentages each week. Of course the goal is ultimately zero: ![]() For reference sakes, we started off with a 15.81% difference. In ten weeks, I have cut it down to just 12.28%. Risto can play all the mind games he wants. I'll just rely on cold hard facts like the chart above. See ya next week. |

Completely forgot to mention I got a bunch of achievements in Halo Wars. Oops. Well I did. Not a bunch like 4 or 5, but still okay.

Never had the chance
Busy week, and really wanted to get Cars done. Plus right after last weeks update I got the notice about the Bourne game, so figured I'd put that first. Hoping to start GTA tomorrow, work permitting.

Goddammit, I got Trials HD the day I made that bet with you because a buddy was bugging me to pick it up and I haven't touched Bioshock since. I have some work to do apparently. What difficulty level are you playing on anyway?
In a related story, I'd highly recommend Trials HD to anyone that hasn't tried it before - it's lots of fun and very addictive. |

I used to do that but found that I often wouldn't take the time to go through again on Hard (Bioshock 1 and COD: WaW come to mind) so I always just go through on Hard the first time now and then go back on Easy to pick up any random achievements I may have missed.
In any case, it looks like I may have my work cut out for me here in trying to finish before you. I'll try though! |

For me it depends on the game, and the achievements too.

In the past 2 weeks I finished up All Pro Football 2k8. Got my first achievement in this on July-26-2007 and my last on March-2-2010.
I beat all story levels in Lego Indiana 2 to get the full 1000. Unlocked 40 achievements in Family Game Night to get me to 1400/1400. Unfortunately TA has this entire game listed as DLC. So this did not effect my percentage. I started and finished Viva Pinata: Party Animals. Unlocked 4 of the glitchy acheevos in Scene It?. I'm now sitting at 48/50 achievements. Only 17 gamers out of 1080 on TA have got the full 1000. I'm going to try to finish this tonight. Unlocked 29 Achievements in Viva Pinata to bring my total to 31/50. I unlocked my first two achievements in June of 2007. Percentage is now 61.78%. Assuming that I don't add any more games I would need 585 Achievements to reach 75%. I plan on playing Ultimate Alliance and DragonAge Origins this week. |

Well the Family Game Night achieves would still help the %. It's just like - they don't count DLC if you don't have the pack or whatever.
Just realized I still have Viva Pinata, so if theres anything you can help me with in that it'd be mucho appreciato. |

I've nearly finished up Need For Speed: Shift. Currently on 950, need to master all the corners on all the tracks to finish up, with about 5 tracks left to do. Although one of them is the last corner on a 20k race, so it's about 8 mins to get up to the point just to try it. Sigh.
Still need to work on Bioshock 2. I think I better work on the online ones in case the online community drops off and it becomes hard to do. Then I just need to playthrough Bioshock 2 and Dantes Inferno again to finish off those and hopefully add them to the completed pile. Trials HD is a great game, I can't get the insane achievement though I just have one more race to do but there's one part I just cannot get through.

I could send you some stuff on Viva pinata if you wanted me to. I don't really have any hard to find, but whatever I sent you would at least give you a head start.

I referenced this in another thread and the article is now live:
XBox 360 Achievements are Ruining Online Gaming Notes: Under an alias. I WRITE SHIT UNDER DIFFERENT NAMES AND YOU DONT EVEN KNOW IT. Plus the articles main aim is linkbait, so I didn't put as much research into it as say a university paper, but the idea is still there. |

Is there anyone who even likes online achievements? That quit while loosing one is retarded though, I guess the idea is that it's an achievement to shame people.
A game like Bad Company 2, I probably would have picked up if it didn't have online achievements, but I don't really want to have to spend 100 hours online grinding away, especially given that I'm yet to play a game with localised searching and thus find myself in overseas games. |

You don't have to get every achievement btw.

Seems like making that achievement would just completely break online play.

I was thinking that too. Sometimes I am like "Man WTF am I doing getting all these achievements" then I remember Nibbles and think better of myself.
Also there's a Virtua Tennis 3 achievement that out of the 8000 ppl that have played it or something, only NINE actually have it. So it's got like a 26.50 TA ratio. Fuck I want it so bad. |
