ghostbusersscreenshotWelcome to Week 2 of my Xbox 360 Achievement Challenge, where I try to take #1 on the NPP Leaderboard.  This weeks update features the recently released action-shooter type game in Ghostbusters, as well as a revisit to Lego Batman, as I strive for perfection in that.

Last weeks update saw me take over the #2 spot with ease, and with +1295 gamerscore points in one week I managed to close the lead on Nateeasy to 575 points.  As for this week?

Lego Batman: Sitting at 700 on this, I got the final 300 to have a perfect 1000 gamerscore.  Yay for me.  This was a bit of a bitch – the amount of characters in the game was driving me crazy – its like – okay, I’ve double jumped, now I need to glide, gotta click the trigger 16 fucking times.  Jesus.  They gotta sort that out for the next instalments.

Anyway yeah – 300 points.  Mostly stuff like maxing out stud counter, completing bonus levels, unlocking everything, and 100% game completion.  That Wayne Manor bonus level was a bit if a bitch too.

Ghostbusters: Me and Mason sat down and played this together over the weekend.  We beat every level and got the We Came, We Saw… achievement for beating the game.  We also did a bunch of other shit like drink from the water fountains, revive teammates 20 times, purchased all upgrades and so on.  Ended up with 585 gamerscore points for that.  Probably could have added an extra 100 on that easy – but meh, I’m tired of “grinding” out points.

So – that was it for this week.  A nice 785 point week.  As for nateeasy?  I am happy to say he got nada.  He did not get one gamerscore point over the last week and I have closed the gap even further.

#1: Nateeasy (52580)

#2: Scotsman (44641)

Current Difference: 7939

This week Mason rented Sonic Unleashed but looking at the achievement list for that I don’t think it will really get us many points.  I’m most likely going to play some UFC, and either The Godfather or The Incredible Hulk, depending on my mood.  Got a bunch of work to do early in the week, but I’m hopefully going to get a nice gaming session in on Wednesday and Thursday.

UFC is pretty slow for points, you need to spend a lot of time online, and go through the career with some tactics to get stuff like No Touch (retire undefeated) and whatever the one is for getting every trophy.

I'd wait till the patch comes for online though, or battle through the quitters. I must say I do enjoy someone dropping out, sending them a message like 'lol back to the tutorials' then getting an explicit laden voice message back.

  3. Scotsman's Avatar Scotsman says:

Yeah I'm not too concerned about points for UFC - I still dont really know what the achievements are tho - just want to finish my career mode. I think I am in like year 5 - finally started stringing some wins together, so hopefully can snag the lightweight title soon.

  4. Nibbles's Avatar Nibbles says:

Career goes for 7 years. If you do another one have a look first, and put it on beginner, makes the sparring much easier.

Online is a lot of fun though, we need to get more NPP games going. I need to avenge my Brando losses.

What's the average point-get from the sparring? I usually get 30-33 every time.

That's really bad, sorry. I think 30 is like the minimum points you get.

Just starting I'd get around 70-77, then once I got some stats up I'd be 92-100, and if I had a really good session 144.

You just have to stop the comp doing anything, taking you down, reversing, or landing strikes. I'd get him in the clinch, uppercut till he broke out, or I'd usually knock him down after getting that stat up a bit. Then I'd go for the mount and depending on time either let him up and repeat or go for the knockout.

Try not to knock him out until the session is nearly over, as you can rock him or knock him down for lots of points a few times, if you knock him out you start again with him at full health.

Until you get your stats up through I don't think you'd get over 70 or so unless you do really well.

  9. Big Jim's Avatar Big Jim says:

Right, I knew it sucked. I want to know how to get those 70-77 points. My guy is terrible and he's like 5-0 and just getting into good fight territory. Have my first camp coming up in a few weeks.

I'll try clinching more. Hopefully that will work.

  10. Nibbles's Avatar Nibbles says:

Build your strength, cardio and, I think endurance first, the ones you just build and don't spar for. Max out strength first (or cardio if you're lightweight) then max out the other two, then do a couple for for strength to even it back out, if that's what you want.

From there start sparring. With your strength high you shouldn't have much trouble with fights and should get into sparring pretty quick. Put the difficulty on beginner as well, I think that effects sparring, although that really depends whether you want to challenge yourself or build a decent CAF.

Try countering too, try and go for takedowns when he swings and such. Starting out your that shit that you can't get much done offensively. Just play it save and get stats into the fields that you work best with and take it from there.

Big points are for knockdowns, rocks and knockouts. Subs are worth more in heavyweight I think, so go for them there, other's they're like 50, so with the time it takes to wear them down and slap it on, assuming you'll even hit it, it's not really worth it.

  11. Big Jim's Avatar Big Jim says:

I might just mess around with the first CAF and then my second time make a really good one. Right now I'm just kicking heads and I need to learn how to do other things if I'm going to get good at the game. I think I'll end up buying this one, as it's only a rental now. I appreciate the help.

  12. Nibbles's Avatar Nibbles says:

If you see yourself going online it's worth a buy for sure, so much fun fighting people. Fighting people with no idea is fun as you know the game and destroy them. Fighting people who know the game is fun as pretty much everything has a reversal and you'll usually have a nice drawn out match.

Once the patch comes through it'll be even better, the amount of people that disconnect is incredible.

  13. nateeasy's Avatar nateeasy says:

I just saw you were doing this. I'm going to have to start whoring again.

  14. nateeasy's Avatar nateeasy says:

A tip for Ghostbusters. If you don't feel like playing the whole game again, you can just beat the first checkpoint and the final boss of every level and get the Hard achievement.

  15. Scotsman's Avatar Scotsman says:

I was hoping you wouldn't see this thread

  16. Brando's Avatar Brando says:

    Is Ghostbusters worth renting?

  17. Scotsman's Avatar Scotsman says:

Yeah man it's a very well done game, and very different from the usual style of game. Story etc is fun and cut scenes amusing too. Very well written.

  18. nateeasy's Avatar nateeasy says:

    Also rather short.

what is the best place to rent games from?

  22. Scotsman's Avatar Scotsman says:

    Taco Bell

  23. buckdiddy's Avatar buckdiddy says:

I went there and they said they don't rent out their video games and then asked me if I wanted an XL Mountain Dew Extra Strength Double Shot Taco Blaster on a Bun. I told them no.

Why'd you reply? I had to see what you were talking about and I realized that I was hungry and upon reading it I got hungry again.

  27. Scotsman's Avatar Scotsman says:

Fuck now I want Taco Bell. Damnit guys.

  28. Big Jim's Avatar Big Jim says:

I finished off Godfather 2 and missed one fucking achievement (the execution one). I'm at that point where I don't want to go through the game again and get the achievement, but tat the same point I'd like a 1,000-point game.

Apparently, after you finish the game you can still play around, but you don't get credit for executions. I need thee more melee ones (the two nightstick and kneeling baseball bat).

  29. Scotsman's Avatar Scotsman says:

I just started the Godfather 1. Played it a bit last night - pretty fun. Was a bit weird at first using the right analog stick for punching and all that, but got used to it and prefer it now.

  30. Big Jim's Avatar Big Jim says:

Really? I think that would be weird. I liked the RT button

  31. Tucho's Avatar Tucho says:

wtf, thats how you control punching in fight night and you dont find that weird

    you're going down so hard.
