Well if you kept up to date with my achievement challenge in 2008, you’ll know that I beat it. The challenge was to get 500+ gamerscore points in every game I own, and I managed to do exactly that, with literally an hour to spare.

I’m currently still hunting for a new achievement challenge to do for 2009, and if you have any ideas post in this thread.  In the meantime, I’ll continue to play games and most likely get over 500 if I can, while posting weekly updates.  My only goal so far is to take #1 on the XBox Leaderboard – I’m currently #2, 7,408 gamerscore points behind Nateeasy.   Maybe I’ll go for 75,000 gamerscore points or something – the 100,000 mark would be nice but I don’t think I can hit that without resorting to games like Avatar.

I purchased Blockbusters unlimited game rental thingy, meaning that I can rent one game at a time, but unlimited amounts of rentals in any given month.  So I can rent a game, play it and if I don’t like it, take it back and get another one and so on.

Since getting that, I’ve played:

Gun: A fairly short game, but enough side quests to keep you busy.  Pretty fun game for a rental.  Beating all those levels, like Escape the Ambush or Across the Badlands etc got me to 410 gamerscore points.  Side missions I beat the Texas Holdem tournaments(duh), completed all bounty hunter missions, beat the Keep the Peace side missions and found every gold ingot.  There was 44 of them and I got 42 without trying, and just had to watch a video for the last two.  Gamerscore is 570 and I can add that to the completed list, although I will probably get 1000 in it if possible.

Rainbow Six Vegas 2: Risto bought me this for my birthday.  He also bought me the first one last year for my birthday.  I assume that is a tradition now.  We played some T-Hunt, and I got the Novice Hunter achievement for beating one mission.  I also got Private First Class due to achievements I had in Vegas 1.

Lego Batman: Mason glided for 9 seconds, and got the Is it a Bird?  Is it a Plane? achievement.  I’ll probably sit down at one point and get 1000 in this, and the other Lego games.

Dead Space: This was the first game I rented with my unlimited rental thing.  Fun game, but definitely only worth a rental, as I couldn’t see myself going back and playing it again.  By just beating the game, getting achievements like Dead on Arrival and Cannon Fodder for beating each level, I got 365 gamerscore points.

I collected over 150 audio/text logs, which were easy to find and got me Legend Teller and Story Teller.  I also did a bunch of shit with my weapons and abilities, like using stasis to freeze over 50 enemies, shot 50 objects with kinesis, and dismembered over 1000 limbs.  I also find the Peng treasure!  Final gamerscore: 685.

Scene It: My wife played this while I was gone, and answered 3 documentary questions correctly for Scholar.

Sonics Ultimate Genesis Collection: I have to admit, I was very disappointed in the game selection for this.  No Road Rash? Skitchin?  Toejam and Earl?  Desert Strike?  NHL Hockey?  Micro Machines?  I can think of over 100 games that should have been on this collection without even trying.  Yet instead we get both Ecco games, and Kid fucking Chameleon.

The achievements for this are HORRIBLE too.  They are so fucking easy, and rather than reward you for – you know – playing through a game, you get achievements for spending 5 minutes with a fucking game.  Like lets see – Sonic 1, get a Chaos Emerald.  Sonic 3 – get 100 rings.  Golden Axe – collect 20 power ups.  Ecco – TALK TO ANOTHER FUCKING DOLPHIN.  Seriously, some horrendous achievements on this.  I won’t bother listing what ones I got, however I have 540 gamerscore points and will most likely add this to the 1000 list.

I’ll also re-add Burnout Revenge to this list, as christ – I REALLY want to beat that game and it’ll encourage me to play it more.
