Of course the NHS will still be there. Labour will still be going on about its imminent demise too.

Slappy's example just shows the large % of people who will vote against their own interests when the resonate with the message campaigned on, and then are shocked when the realise what they actually voted for.
It's good to have a second voice of reason here. My view is that Corbyn can sell this message better than anyone that Austerity is a choice that doesn't work.

On one hand we have "There has been a 46% increase in the number of people in England and Wales evicted from their homes since housing benefit cuts came into effect in 2011, government figures show"

Then we have "The National Trust is providing £375,000 to renovate George Osborne's 18th century retreat, it has been revealed"

The whole point of housing benefit reform was to reduce the bill and nudge people into homes relative to their need. It will move folk around. The council rehomes people you know. Has to by law.

The more cynical view would be that a large part of the housing benefit reform is to get people out of now wealthy areas.

These are symptoms of low paid jobs and failures to build affordable housing anyway. There's a reason cuts impact the people that don't vote tories anyway. I mean you could have thrown money into new affordable builds that also have the added benefits of creating jobs and stimulating the economy.

That would be beneficial for everyone Nibbles. Can't have that with this government.

If you require a subsidy to live, it shouldn't be to enable you to live beyond your means. Why should housing benefit pay for more than someone needs?

Also planning is a local issue and housing associations aren't building enough affordable houses. Doesn't quite fit with your evil Tories narrative though.

Narrative! The 60% cut to housing associations by Gideon since 2010 fits in with it though.

It does when they're tying it to councils selling off their most valuable holdings.

Right to by is predicated on councils selling of a % of their most valuable council homes.

Right to buy is gay. Why should fucking scruff be able to buy a house that's comparable or better than mine just because they got given social housing 10 years ago.

Also, I must be blind because I can't see an appreciable increase in homelessness (and I work in one of the most deprived boroughs in the country).

I can totally see why you guys agree with Jez's politics. You're left wing, Rik Mayall in The Young Ones types. Theres nothing wrong with that. In an ideal world that's how things probably should be run.

What I don't get is your total lack of understanding about how the majority of people vote and that a left wing candidate of Corbz proportions has less chance of getting into #10 than a Muslim cleric.

    You're choosing ideals over pragmatism.

I'm of the opinion that the people who generally decide elections, ie not partisan, voters are often single issue voters and not necessarily politically engaged. If you sell the message that you're going to "fix" the economy you'll garner votes despite whatever else you might be selling.

It's not like he's calling to nationalise the banking sector anyway.
