Does it not discourage you from starting new games? Especially games that you may not like or w/e?

Na, not really. I've never not bought a game because of achievements. I play what I want to play and achievements come second. That been said I guess most big AAA games tend to be on the easier side these days. I'm over grinding stuff these days too. I'll still go the extra mile but nothing too excessive anymore.

What it has done is made me commit to games I do play. Before TA I had a whole bunch of games I'd played and then moved on from. Now I'll rarely have more than one game on the go and make sure I complete them before I move onto the next one. Helps keep my backlog somewhat down too. Like now I have 4 One box games sitting on the shelf. At one point on the 360 I must have had 30+, pretty sure there is a pic floating around in one of the old threads before I traded them all in.

Battlefield Bad Company 2: Played through and finished this this week. Even got a couple of online achievements as there was a few people playing. It was a meh game. Felt pretty bland.

Fun achievement story. Theres an online achievement for being the best squad 5 times. You can win it by yourself - basically hop in an attack/defend game with no defenders and rush through attacking and destroying 8 items. Takes about 5 minutes a time.

Problem is people kept joining! It was driving me nuts I was even playing it at 5am and I'd get 6 out of the 8 things blown up and then as I go to the 2 left I'd get sniped outta nowhere. Actually made it quite fun though and intense not knowing if anyone was in the game or not.

Wrapped it up for 32/50 achievements.

Ryse: Started this one up now. Halfway through single player and at 15/58 achievements. Enjoying it a lot the combat system is good.

Not sure what I'll get onto after that. I watched Taff play the Witcher 3 for a bit on Twitch the other night and I might hop into Witcher 2 although I'm worried it'll consume me. We'll see.

XBox Games to Wrap Up: 153
New XBox 360 Games: 88
New XBox One Games: 123 (+3 - Zoo Tycoon, Watch_Dogs and Horse Racing 2016]
New XBLA Games: 59.
Dead Persons Games: 32.
XBox Kinect Games: 24.

Current Stats:

Achievements: 10,447 (+46)
Gamerscore: 240,138 (+1010)
True Achievement Score: 375,266 (+1577)
100% Completed Games: 101.

Ryse: Finished the single player on this. Really enjoyed it. Will try it on the hardest difficulty for sure. There's a ton of online achievements I'll slowly work away on with friends but I got all the collectibles and misc achievements so all that's left is online/2nd playthrough so it's off my list. 43/61 achievements for 925 gamerscore currently.

Borderlands The Pre Sequel: Started this with my son. Still early on - 3 out of 53 achievements.

XCom Enemy Within: I started this back in June 2016 yikes. Started a whole new game approximately a year to the day. I had 2/30 achievements last time. Haven't unlocked any yet but this is my current single player game.

XBox Live had a big indy sale and I bought a few games from that.

Cel Damage HD: Decent 4 local player game. Played with the fam yesterday for a bit, unlocked 1/16 achievements.

Shred it: One of those endless runner games. We had a blast playing this - the kids play them on their phones all the time. 11/25 achievements.

Emily Wants to Play: A scary game modelled after Five Night at Freddys. After turning off all the lights and making the family stay up till midnight to play it on Thursday they declared they won't play it again - too scary. Got 4/11 achievements.

I don't have any specific goals for this year but looking at the list below I think I'd like to get my XBox Games to Wrap Up and New XBox One Games under 100, with an ambitious goal of a 300,000 gamerscore.

Working on the backlog is my main focus.

XBox Games to Wrap Up: 153
New XBox 360 Games: 88
New XBox One Games: 131 (+8 - Ryse off the list but the indy games above plus The Fall, Level 22 and Letter Quest Remastered all on it]
New XBLA Games: 59.
Dead Persons Games: 32.
XBox Kinect Games: 24.

Current Stats:

Achievements: 10,494 (+47)
Gamerscore: 242,578 (+2440)
True Achievement Score: 377,368 (+2102)
100% Completed Games: 101.
Percentage: 59.45% (-0.10%)

I'm still plugging away on Skyrim, and likely will be for awhile. Barely scratched the main story but that's due to trying to cover achievement related missions. ou can apparently get locked out of if you do things in the wrong order or let certain NPCs get killed quite easily. Wrapped up the Dawnguard DLC first for this reason; they spawn vampires in towns so people can easily get killed if you don't keep track. Had to reload a few saves due to this.

I'm not too sure how I feel about the leveling system though. I like the idea that you the more you do of something, the better you become at it and can level it up. It moves pretty slow though. I guess I'm more used to Fallout where you could become a powerful jack of all trades quite easily. Skyrim, it seems, you can only get really good in a few disciplines. Maxed out a few already anyway, although haven't dumped perks into them.

See where I'm at in a couple of weeks, but might also start some smaller games to play concurrently. At the moment I tend to just throw on COD4 and get a few games out of that. Need to focus on achievements, or at least clearing the backlog, though.

I can read even the most boring Skyrim stuff and it still makes me want to play it. Maybe I'll go back to that after I finally 100% RDR.

You will wait for the vr port and frantically upgrade and buy everything you need so you can play it.

And you will like it.

Maxed out smithing, alchemy and enchanting. No big deal.

Since I'll be playing Skyrim for awhile I might just do updates on the achievements related to that.

I stated the game by doing mostly prep work for my playthough. Through exploring and woodcutting I already had about $5k in gold before heading to Whiterun. Got to the city of Whiterun and started with the alchemist there. I'd buy certain ingredients, craft high value potions, sell them back and repeat. Leveled up alchemy and normal leveling doing this netting achievements for each. After this moved onto smithing.

With high level alchemy I could craft expensive potions. Using these I'd buy up iron ingots and leather strips to make daggers. Did this lots to max out smithing and moved onto enchanting. I'd done some exploring and missions during this time, including one that dumped me across the other side of the map so I had to work my way back. Gave me lots of gear to disenchant which luckily included some of the most valuable enchantments. I would enchant the daggers for leveling and sell them back to buy gems.

By the end of this process I'd maxed out alchemy, smithing and enchanting. Time to move onto the next part; crafting some high level gear. I started by making a set of crafting gear. All these were enhanced to give a bonus to alchemy and smithing. Using this gear, I made potions give a bonus to smithing and enchanting. I decided to go for a light armour set so used my perks there. The perks for armour are in a circle, so I thought maybe hitting the max level in light armour would allow you to go one over and get the max level for heavy armour. It doesn't. Crafted a glass armour set as I don't have access to dragons yet.

During the above I'd started random missions including the Dawnguard expansion and the thieves guild. Dawnguard I was focused on as, at level 10, random vampire attacks start spawning. If the hit in a town essential people can get killed and lock you out of stuff. Had to do a few reloads with this happening. One of the related quests got some headgear that allows for two stone blessings. Also got me an achievement for discovering 13 standing stones despite not doing so. I traveled back to the first ones you come across to switch blessings depending on what I was doing. Guess that counted.

Dawnguard: played through this for all the related achievements bar one. The remaining one requires you to become a werewolf and I haven't progressed far enough to become one yet. I didn't become a vampire but did get infected forcing me to find a cure.

The Daedric Artifacts Apparently one of the more troublesome achievements as you can easily lock yourself out of it. Discovered I'd already done a quest related to it that could have caused issues, but lucked out and it didn't. Went through the various quests obtaining 15 artifacts along the way. Kinda irritated there's an achievement tied to getting them as many of them required actions I wouldn't have done if it were up to me.

Thieves Guild As mentioned I'd joined already although only finished the quests related to joining.

I'll be focusing on the thieves guild now and finishing up all the related achievements there. Not sure after that. I might go for the Companions next as I believe that is where you can become a werewolf allowing me to get the last Dawnguard achievement.

I'd also like to advance the story to get dragons spawning so I can craft some dragon armour. I understand though they create a similar problem to the Dawnguard vampires though and can break a lot of quests.

My playstyle has changed a bit too. I started assuming I'd try and max out everything but quickly realised you can't really focus on everything in Skyrim. You can certainly level everything up, and have been doing that for the benefit of leveling, but don't have the perks to spread around. I've been putting perks into archery, one-handed damage and stealth. At this point (lvl 48 or so) I can stealth through most dungeons using a bow. The one-handed is there if I do get spotted. I keep mean to craft a shield to work on blocking in those circumstances too.

Magic I just use as I walk around everywhere. Currently constantly casting muffle and have nearly maxed out that category (I forget what it was). I might put perks into magic once I'm happy with my normal playstyle, but currently don't really need too. Just doing it for the purpose of leveling up overall.

Figured you'd already done enough one-handed damage in real life.

I didn't have much fun with it when I played it legitimately. The reason for that is mainly the controls - they're just poor and frustrating when trying to walk from scene to scene.

After the first episode I switched to using a guide so I wouldn't miss out on the achievements. I enjoyed it more that way as I was able to just sit back and focus on the story. The story was good enough and a solid part of the BTTF universe so I'd only get it if you're interested in that.

No real notable achievement gaining or backlog working for me this week as I focused on X-Com Enemy Within. It can be a difficult game at times and I played a few story missions which are time consuming.

I won a total of 4 achievements in it over the course of the week.

I also started Letter Quest: Grimm's Journey with the family and got 1 out of 60 achievements in that so my percentage is gonna be hurt a bit.

Gonna keep plugging away at X-Com although I may be starting the Witcher 3 soon. Probably a bad decision due to my backlog but oh well.

I might give BTTF a miss then, or wait for it to be even cheaper.

Witcher 3 is fantastic, but gonna be a big time-sink. Do you think you'll get a Scorpio? They've said they'll patch in 4k for Witcher 3 so might be worth holding off for a few months if so.
