When I started the NPP front page many moons ago, I had two goals in mind. The first goal was to showcase some of the threads on here, and I feel that has been a success. Having things like the top 50 movies list etc on the front page really helped get a lot more interest in them, and give them the prominence that they deserved.
It was my second goal that was ultimately a failure.
The second goal was to bring in new visitors, and make them part of the community. The first part? Worked wonders. We were getting between 50-200 unique visitors a day that aren’t members of the forums. Unfortunately they just never seemed to sign up for the forums, or very rarely browse the forums.
It was a few months ago I figured out why.
My wife watched me play arcade games, and decided she wanted to play them too. I told her to go to the NPP forums, so she went to NoPantsProvided.com and then couldn’t find her way to the forums, despite that being her goal. As I looked over the front page, I realized that there really wasn’t anything there that would make you actually go to the forums. That’s when I put the front page on hold until I could redo it.
So we now have a new front page. I’ve went into it from an internet marketing perspective – but instead of selling people on casinos, I am selling them on the NPP forums. I’ve went with a much simpler design which makes it easy to browse and understand, with a variety of calls to action for the forums.
One final thing I need to note – the front page is community driven. I will do my best to add articles, but I’m a very busy person unfortunately, and as all my work revolves around a computer and doing lots of content writing, I can’t provide tons of articles. Therefore that’s where I appeal to you guys to participate in the front page.
You can write about anything you want. Movie reviews. TV show reviews. Wrestling DVD reviews. Album reviews. Stories about your life. Your opinion on stuff. Top lists or other things that get forum participation. Write about events on the forums(like recaps of the mafia games). Go through some old threads from the Scotsmanality days and write about them. Do previews for UFC events. Write betting tips. Run contests.
The possibilities are endless, and we are open to anything and everything. You can send front page articles to me or Taff and we will post them.

This site doesn't have nearly enough annoying pop-ups and spyware. NPP Front Page doesn't know what's crackin in '09.

And then there's this.
I sent Scots a prototype something or another a few months back when I was still in Seattle. I think it's a good idea, and even though it was a little thin it was more of an "here's what this could be" sort of thing. He said he loved it.
Of course, historically he's told me he's loved EVERYTHING I submitted to him. Which, as we all now know, is OUTHOUSE RANKED FAG GARBAGE because the only reason he ever put anything of mine up on Scotsmanality was because he knew it would piss people off. Any maybe... just maybe... in my heart of hearts I knew it, too. Or I didn't. I don't remember much of that time period.
In any event, I just don't know. I'd LOVE to contribute to the good work here, but I am not entirely sure my fragile ego can take Scotsman's bullshit ass placating and the harsh words of the community at large.
I am hesistant to jump on board this train, and suspect that perhaps only a thread w/ poll can make this decision for me.
Question to Scots - will the top # lists be finished? It's lulzy to have top 15 UK sitcoms with a link though. Is Fair Game still tied 15th?
Stixx - you should just do it. I will laugh, and isn't that all that matters?
I honestly think everyone should have a go at writing. There are a lot of things already on the forum that could go on the front page. Hole and his NPP F1 season recaps. Nibbles shit you must read if he adds a para or two about each article. Kender's top 25 Simpsons thing in the Goldmine could be posted up there in 25 different articles. Joey's movie reviews with some editing.
Have people read garbage like The Bleacher Report? It doesn't take much to impress teh Internets these days.
Personally I think I can flesh out my ten greatest songs ever I recently posted into an article if it would have wide appeal.
Another idea I have is greatest Super Nintendo or Playstation games thing. No rankings, only one article, just a simple list of games with a screen cap and description for each. Although I think others could do a far better job than me at that.
Oh, and just thinking now could do something YouTube related - like 5 cool sports clips every week. Ok that one is stolen from the Guardian newspaper, but could do anything else really. So easy - 5 clips, 5 paras, loads of comments.
Also this is the first thing I've read in two days, and let me state I'm not a fan of how my avatar looks.

And great ideas for articles. If people are scared or something of negative feedback, write general articles like some of the ones listed above, where you're going to incite discussion from it.
Will there be some guidelines? minimum/maximum word limits and such.
Cheekbone's asked me to proofread his 12,000 word dissertation on the career of Emanuele Pirro and I was just wondering whether it needed more padding.
I don't really think guidelines are necessary. I don't want the front page to be a 'chore' or anything like that - it's not like we're writing for the NY Times.
Semi-serious question, being the community that it is. Are you going to censor / refuse anything that's overly hateful or racist, like if someone did a write up on Perez vs Will.I.Am and slathered it with racial and homophobic epithets?

FYI-When reading the comments on the front page, it lists the date as 12-31-1969.
Oops yeah I remember seeing that - I'll see if I can fix that and if not will just remove the date.
