Welcome to the 3rd week of my achievement challenge. Things got interesting this week when me and Risto got in a heated argument about whether or not I could overtake his achievement completion percentage. The end result was a $2,000 bet, with an added bonus of Risto giving me $1,000 if I am within 5% of his percentage by the end of June.

Of course I also made my first mistake this week. I guess I bought the arcade game Zuma or something – I don’t really remember. But I was playing it and I unlocked my first achievement in it – which means that game is now added to my list, or rather 11 more achievements I need to get are added to my list. Fuck.

I’ve spent most of the last week just playing arcade games. That’s my main focus right now – due to work and a trip to England at the end of the month I don’t really have the time to dedicate to games like Bioshock right now, so I basically just play the 360 for 30 minutes whenever I have a chance. I’ve decided to work on the arcade games seeing how I have so many of them, with so little achievements.

As mentioned, I got an achievement in Zuma for 16 chains in a row. This game has 12 total achievements, and I should be able to get at least 9 of them. I also beat an episode in N+ to get the completed 15 episodes achievement in that too. I can probably get all achievements in that one, although it will take time.

in 3 on 3 NHL Arcade I finally got 200/200, scoring with the super shot powerup twice, and then playing a quick ranked match with 2 guests. The kids enjoyed that. I also wrapped up Puzzle Quest by beating the story and getting to level 50. I also forged a godlike item which is an achievement. Hilariously, that achievement can take upwards of 4 hours and is purely based on luck, and I got it on my 2nd try.

Puzzle Quest is a phenomenal game BTW, and I highly recommend it to everyone.

In Arkanoid Live I got an achievement for beating the AI. I need 7 more achievements in this one and all are easily obtainable. I also got a couple of achievements in Worms as i collected 50 crates, killed 3 worms with one shot and killed over 100 enemy worms. Another game where I can get all achievements eventually.

For actual retal games – Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2. I got a few achievements in this by beating a few missions on veteran like Takedown and Hornets Nest. I also earned 30 stars in Special Ops, and killed 10 enemies with one predator missle.

I’ve been playing Gears of War 2 with Risto, and we beat it on insane finally. This got me the achievements for beating it on hardcore and insane. I also recovered all 41 collectibles for an achievement there. I have the majority of achievements in that one, but there’s a few more I’ll be picking up before I sell it.

The last game I have been playing is Virtua Tennis 3. I’ve made it to rank #100 in the world tour, unlocked 1 of each type of gear, chatted to 25 people and won 25 love games, all of which were achievements. I also got the 5 consecutive max serves achievement which was a bitch.

Risto started to go through Halo 3 and has 4 achievements in that so far, which means a lot of unobtained achievements at thist ime which will make his score worse in the short-term. He also picked up Guitar Hero World Tour and I know he won’t get a lot of achievements in that so that’s a good thing.

Last weeks scores were 51.16% for me, and 66.75% for Risto. This week I am at 51.49% , while Risto dropped to 66.4%.

I think if I get 70% I should be good for beating Risto. Right now I have 2756 of 5337 achievements. Assuming no new games, that means 1000 achievements ouf ot the existing games I have. That sounds like a lot, but just glancing at the games I have only a couple of achievements in, I can get:

44 in Wall-E.
35 in All Pro Football 2K8.
35 in Shellshock 2.
35 in Lego Indiana Jones 2.
36 in Planet 51.
35 in You’re in the Movies.
35 in Prince of Persia.
15 in Cars: Mater National.
23 in Ben 10.
25 in Chronicles of Riddick.
40 in Batman Arkham Asylum.
26 in Monsters vs Aliens.
30 in Bolt.
40 in Harry Potter OOTP.
20 in Mini Ninjas.
30 in Bionic Commando.
30 in Transformers.
30 in Transformers 2.
30 in Blitz 2.
25 in Lost.
36 in G-Force.
45 in Bee Movie.
30 in Mass Effect.
26 in Kung Fu Panda.
14 in Karaoke Revolution.

And I mean – that’s just a quick glance off the top of my head, and doesn’t cover the other games that I can get a few achievements in. That list above is 770 achievements, and doesn’t include a lot of possible achievements.

The next couple of weeks I won’t be playing too much, but come March it’s gonna be sick.

Is that list the achievements you have left in each game or the ones you think you can get?

Ones I think I can get. I didn't go through and make a detailed list or anything - hell I havent even looked at the achievements for Mass Effect - but based on other peoples list, it's a decent approximation.

Mass Effect doesn't look too good percentage-wise, would take a lot of playthroughs. But that's just from me halfway through 1 playthrough. I'm sure if you planned it well like with Dead Rising it would take around 3.

Theres a few "play the majority of the game with X character" in Mass Effect. You pretty much have to play the entire game including side quests with a certain character.

I haven't unlocked an achievement in like a month

True dat. Dead Rising was another one I didn't look at achievements beforehand. I dunno I think with Mass Effect I'll do a playthrough without looking, then at least one other playthrough with a certain goal in mind in regard to achievements.

I don't know what Mass Effect was like but at least with Dead Rising a playthrough was never going to be more then 6 hours, so it lended itself to multiple playthroughs.

  8. Boner's Avatar Boner says:

Yeaa Mass Effect is much longer than that.

    Why?

    Have you played Rayman yet?

  10. Scotsman's Avatar Scotsman says:

    Yeah play Rayman you cunt.

  11. Taff's Avatar Taff says:

Im about 13 achievements off 50%, picked up a few on The Orange Box last night, got like 4 in 5 minutes, tho I suppose with a game that has 99 achievements thats to be expected.

  12. Boner's Avatar Boner says:

That's definitely next on my hitlist after I finish Mass Effect and Borderlands. I'm at 51% now, eent looking through it on True Achievements last night and forgot how many I have left to get. Basically all of Episode 1 plus others.

  13. Taff's Avatar Taff says:

theres 2 piece of piss achievements right at teh start of episode 1, but you have to save just before it happens so you can do 2 different things to get the different achieves.

All mine that arent portal based are from a 5 minute play last night

  14. nateeasy's Avatar nateeasy says:

Beat Simpsons last night. Going to go through and find all the collectibles. Not going to do the time challenges though.

Nibbles you should go for 90%. NPP needs a 90% gamer.

  15. Taff's Avatar Taff says:

TaffMaster has won 1,370 Achievements out of a possible 2,739 (50.02% Completion - 1,369 remaining)

    yessssss

  16. Boner's Avatar Boner says:

May go for 75% along with my existing goal of getting 30k.

  17. What's the point in those achievements that give you 0 points? Like in Fifa for example, (Play with the same 5 star team in 10 consecutive online matches, got it by accident). Am I meant to be embarrassed by that? Oh the shame, I cheated.
